Repeat prescription requests - patient information document

Electronic prescription service  - your prescriptions can be sent electronically from the surgery to a pharmacy of your choice, no need for you to visit the surgery to collect your prescription form. More information can be found via the links below.

How do I do this?

Visit your preferred pharmacy and say that you would like to nominate them to receive your prescrptions electronically - they will ask you to sign a form; or

  • Visit the surgery and speak to a receptionist and we will update your records with the name of your nominated/preferred pharmacy; or
  • Send an email to marine.surgery@nhs.net

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time and we can also override sending your prescription electronically if at any time you would prefer to receive a printed paper copy.

Other information

  • We do not accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone.
  • Please TICK the items you require on your repeat prescription request slip or on-line
  • Prescriptions can be requested via your chosen local pharmacy and once the prescription is ready it will be forwarded to your chosen pharmacy and dispensed for you to collect from them. Please contact the pharmacy of your choice for information about their service.

Calls to NHS 111 about repeat prescriptions

The NHS111 service was not set up for supplying repeat prescriptions in the out of hours period. Yet over a third of calls to NHS111 at the weekend are regarding repeat prescriptions. Therefore, we would like to remind patients that they should not ring 111 for a repeat prescription, but order in plenty of time using the practice or pharmacy processes.

If you ring NHS111 directly for routine repeat medicines you will be referred to a community pharmacy. The Pharmacy may be able to offer an “emergency supply” and you will have to pay (even if you currently receive free prescriptions).
